After many years in the pipeline, this 32 million of euros project got the green light in early 2018 and work started shortly after.
But in december 2018, the State Council put it on hold ruling in favor of the wildlife and heritage organizations. More infos: read my article: here).
Yesterday 09/04/19, the Administrative Court of Bordeaux cancelled the authorisation to build the bypass. So from “suspended” the project got “cancelled” and demolition order was given (total cost: 15 million).
Despite losing, the Chairman of the Departmental Council of Dordogne, Germinal Peiro, does not seem to be defeated by this decision. He confirmed that he is going to appeal!
If you get the itch, go and have a twitch! Pombonne Park has 3 hides where you can spy on the wildlife. Over the look out, you'll find posters with description and pictures to make it easier to identify the animals. Last saturday, to our great delight, we were able to spot 3 cormorants! Amelia, our daughter, 10yo, climbed on the steps/benches and was able to see them too!
Last summer, we met "Fluff", an adorable albino baby donkey (http://bit.ly/2hAwMXC). He went missing with his mum for a while and we got a bit worried. But yesterday, when we went to the park, we were delighted to see him and his mum back!!! He's still fluffy and still loves cuddles!
So, if you are in Bergerac, drop in and say "Hi" to Fluff!!!
