Following yesterday's article (https://goo.gl/UkmB6s), here's a photo of Bergerac Public Garden ("Jardin Public") with its bandstand. Today, this space has been converted into 2 parking lots: Republique (open air) and Carmes (underground) car parks.
Following last week article about the new and improved Carmes St (https://goo.gl/9CXVkG), I could not help sharing with you a photo of this part of Bergerac dated back to 1946. 73 years ago, the town had 2 cinemas (The Cyrano and the Odeon) and a park next to it ("Jardin Public")
The Cinema Cyrano, is still there today in the same spot (building on your left), the other one, the Odeon, (on your right) closed down in the 60'.
As for the public garden ("Jardin Public"), it has been converted into 2 parking lots: Republique (open air) and Carmes (underground) car parks.
With its huge fortified church, the square of Beaumont du Périgord has it all. All year long, it hosts twice a week a market (tues & sat: fruit, veg, fish, cheese…). During the summer, it gets busier with the Night Market (every monday evening) and a multitude of local/social events like brocantes & flea markets, concerts, exhibitions….
This is the beating heart of our village…. and it is just a few minutes stroll from our rental, L' Ancienne Ecole!
