I ve talked recently about a great family friendly outdoor activity near Sarlat, the Green Way Path: http://bit.ly/2nKzsqE where you can practice your favorite sport or just go for a gentle stroll. It made me wonder about young children and how far they can walk depending on their age.
According to BougerEnFamille.com, here's what you should expect from a child who is used to walk on regular basis :
3 years: 3 km
4 years: 4 km
5 years: 5 km
6 years: 7 km
8 years: 11 km
Don't forget to make plenty of time for breaks (for children under 12 years: 10 to 15mins every hour) and plan adequally since they reckon you need 50% extra time compared to adults.
Wherever we go, we always carry a First Aid kit and medicine like Arnica Montana 9ch, (homeopathic remedy for bruising) along with some hypoallergenic wipes (handy to clean hands and face) snacks like dried fruit, energy bars and juice boxes for our 9 year old daughter. Always be prepared!
And don't forget, you don't need to walk far for an ice cream if you're staying at l'Ancienne Ecole, our holiday accomodation near Bergerac. We're located right in the middle of an historic village and the square with cafés, restaurants, chemist, banks, shops… is only a few steps away.
