Every May, Saint Jean de Cole covers itself in flowers for "Les Floralies", this unique and colourful week end dedicated to crafts, local products, new floral varieties, rare plants, garden decorations (over 100 exhibitors). More than 10 000 visitors are drawn to this pretty village to wander and enjoy them.
If you're in Brantome during a hot summer day, don't forget to pay a visit to the best homemade ice cream place to die for: "Le Glacier de Brantome" (on the main road a couple of doors before the talented glass blower: Eric Simonin).
The shop is a natural cave in a cliff wall. A large range of colours, tastes and flavours, (more than 50 I believe) many unusual like violet and rose for example….But if ice cream is not your thing, you can also get other treats like crepes, waffles…
We found this place by accident one day and since then, this is our go to place when we get an ice cream craving!
Casual, very friendly, pop in, you won't regret it!
Eric Simonin chose Brantome, the "Venise du Perigord", to set up his workshop. A true artist, he creates amazing and unique glass art sculptures inspired from Mother Nature: jellyfish, anemone, mushrooms, stones… and turns them into lamps, plates, jewellery and even chrismas balls. They are all breathtaking and no wonder they were in the nationalTV a few times.
