Last week (Tues 9th of april 2019), we decided to check on the Green Lane progress between Prigonrieux and Bergerac ie Le Chemin de la Batellerie (walk connected to the Pierre Loti footpath from the Bergerac port: my article here).
Work is still in progress with some parts already done (tarmac) and some not.
Summer in the Dordogne is always busy and there are always plenty of things to see and do !
One of our favorite is the Summer Night Market or Foodie Market (“Marche Gourmand”). If you’re in the area, it’s the best way to spend a brillant evening feasting on local food, freshly cooked in front of you and dance to your heart’s content.
It’s a very popular event and it’s no wonder it’s one of the highlight of our village, Beaumont du Périgord (Dordogne, SW of France) !
Every monday at 6.30pm, simply walk up the street from our vacation rental home to the market square, the beating heart of our village, to mingle with the locals and share an fantastic evening. Grab one of the tables which are set up and walk around the market stalls to buy directly from the local producers whatever you fancy for supper. Market traders provide everything from wine, starters, cooked meals (Lamb kebabs, duck sausages, mussels, black pudding, lamb chops.simple sausages or steaks, with chips naturally..). and deserts (yummy freshly picked strawberries….)and each supply the appropriate plastic cups or cutlery. There is something for all tastes. So you can choose your meal and take it back to the table and enjoy dining under the stars, al frescoe with music by a local band.
The Riding School CEPB is also present at the square to delight little ones with its pony rides! It’s a fun way to discover the cobbled streets of our village!
You’ll find similar Night Markets all around The Dordogne. Here’s a list of the villages (Note: the list below may be subject to change so please do check with the local Office de Tourisme – Source: https://goo.gl/ZP7zsn)

Mescoules is another village part of the Bergerac wine-growing region. Trail called "Boucle De Grand Champ " has been done and tested (15/01/19) with the free app randogps (https://goo.gl/5facHp) Walk is 4,4 km with a starting point at the church carpark.
What I loved about this walk: Very easy walk for the whole family: open spaces with woods, vineyards, farm lands. Bonus: we spotted 7 deers running accross the fields!
Nastringues is another small village part of the Bergerac wine-growing region. It produces the “Haut-Montravel” wine (sweet white wine). Trail called "Boucle de Nastringues" has been done and tested (26/11/18) with the free app randogps (https://goo.gl/7kjoMN) Walk is 7,2 km walk with a starting point from the carpark next to the roman church.
What I loved about this walk: Woods, vineyard, countryside, this walk has it all!
