There are so many places and things to see and do when on vacation in our area. Here we made a list of 10 of our favourite things to see and do for both adults and children, while enjoying your vacation.
The list is in no particular order.
Worlwide famous Prehistoric Caves, LASCAUX

3. Ride the Tracks: A unique trip on an old railway track crossing viaducts, rivers, grassland and forest: the Velorail
Here’s a Little snippet of the fun we had
Departure: The track starts at the railway station of Corgnac sur l’Isle (1h45mins from our villa in Beaumont)
Each Velorail has 2 sets of pedals and can take up till 5 people (adults and children all ages)
Admissions: 27€ per Velorail (11km ie 2 hours of fun)

In July and August, every thrusday, departure at 7.30pm just before dark for a thrill descent!
4. Bridoire Castle
Also named Castle of Games (website) and their 2016 new attraction: The Mysterious Valley (website) a 3km maze (2hours) packed with clues and enigmas in English and French! Family Fun guaranteed!!!

5. Japonese Water Garden in Carsac Aillac near Sarlat
This is a 3 ha park with 30 lotus and 55 nympheas plus a maze on the water (unique in Europe)
Distance: 1H20 drive from our rental
Note about admissions: Each child receives a container with food to feed the koi fish and the under 10s, get in for free.

6. Put your feet up and take a trip on a 18th replica of wooden barge on the river Dordogne
7. Horse riding local
Beaumont du Perigord has everything for everybodys taste.
So, if you are a horse/poney lover, there is no reason why you should not be able to practise your favorite sport even during your holiday.
The Riding School CEPB (5 mins outside the village)has a wide panel of activities for all ages: you can go for 1 to 3 hours walk, camp for 1 or 3 days, have a go at mounted archery, attend carriage lessons, rent poneys..etc … And don’t forget, that every monday evening from 7pm, the CEPB vill be present at the square during the Night Market and the little ones can go up on a poney and discover the back alleys of the village
8. Child friendly foot and cycle paths (towpath)
Lots of foot and cycle paths around our village (maps available in our rental)
Our favorite one is the towpath of Lalinde (15mins drive from our rental). Read about it our fun afternoon out
We work in partnership with Dordogne Bike Direct, so if you wish your bike to be delivered to your door while on holiday, Bike Direct (website) will make it possible!
9. Night Market or Foodies Market in Beaumont du Perigord
Starts end of June to beginning of Sept, a great way to sample fresh local food & wine! In our village, every Monday, from 6.30pm, with live music to get you in the mood.
10. Visit the land of 1000 Castles, its medieval villages and its museums
Our favorite one is Hauteford Castle (website), northeast of Dordogne, with its beautiful grounds and amazing views over the valley!
Special mention for its Souvenir Shop, where I got a lovely unique pair of hand-painted earrings in porcelain.
